Health Curriculum

Health is required for all Grade 10 students.

· This course is aimed at making health personally and socially relevant to the student.  Basic health principles are taught in the areas of substance abuse and sexuality.  The student examines her own values and is given skills for intelligent decision-making.

Transitions Curriculum

Grade 12 (Trimester I):

· This course presents the basics of business etiquette, and prepares seniors to go out on interviews. It focuses on demeanor and professional appearance.

 

· Fontbonne’s cafeteria provides healthy, homemade food choices each day. Candy and other high-calorie snacks have been eliminated.

· Fontbonne’s graduates are well-represented in education, law, commerce and the sciences.

Fine and Practical Arts Curriculum

· Students integrate their physical education training in gymnastics and dance with their backgrounds in art and music as part of their innovative storylines for the annual intramural Sports Day competition.

 

· Fontbonne has winning sports teams in varsity and junior varsity basketball and volleyball , soccer, golf, tennis and track.

 

· A new step team is rapidly become a competitive force.

 

· Fontbonne’s swim team is a recognized powerhouse.

 

· Our award-winning varsity and junior varsity cheerleaders compete in local, regional and national competitions.

Grade 9: Physical Education

· This course is designed to give each student an exposure to different sports.  The year begins with conditioning.  The class then moves on to beginning volleyball, basic gymnastics and movement.  The students will then learn soccer and participate in lead up games.

Grade 10: Physical Education

· Students will have health and physical education during this year. In physical education the students will learn tennis, basketball and cooperative games.

Grade 11: Physical Education

· The 11th year course is designed to continue 9th  year curriculum.  It is geared to help the student develop a higher skill level and a better understanding of the application of the rules.  The students will start the year with conditioning.  Advanced skills are taught in volleyball. Folk and Square Dances are introduced as well as a Group Games Course.

Grade 12: Physical Education

· Tennis will be offered in the first trimester.  The second trimester is conditioning by aerobics.  The third trimester will be spent learning the fundamentals of Social Dance.

Grade 12: Physical Education Leaders

· This course is for those students who  have the ability and knowledge to assist in Physical Education 9 and 10 classes. The leaders are taught how to write a lesson plan, officiate various sports and to lead group activities.
