Support the outstanding education and cutting edge programs at Fontbonne by donating to our school on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018. Since 2012, #Giving Tuesday has become an international day and symbol of selfless generosity and support during what has been a very aggressive and grossly commercial time of the year instead of celebrating the true meaning of the Christmas season, namely God's selfless love for us all by giving us his only Son to be our Lord and Savior. We hope you will consider a meaningful gift on #GivingTuesday.
Although there are MANY reasons to give to and support Fontbonne, this year we'd like to highlight the many and extremely valuable partnerships we have with renowned colleges and universities. Through our College Bridge Program, a student is offered an invaluable advanced look at college academics through the College Advantage Program at St. John’s University, St. Francis College and St. Joseph’s College. We offer courses in the liberal arts and sciences (SJU), as well as courses that are specific to a major field of study, for example, business and entrepreneurial studies with St. Francis College and, with St. Joseph’s College, SJC@FHA a hybrid acceleration program that is career-specific. This program will enable a student to take those specific courses here that are required for the child study career path at SJC. And, new for 2018-2019, we will be offering a Nursing Seminar--a hands-on learning experience, off-site at St. Francis College’s state-of-the-art Nursing Simulation Lab.
Fontbonne Hall Academy is excited for their partnership with the Performing Arts Program at Brooklyn College. Three of the workshops will focus on musical theater coaching, and three will involve practicing various acting methods. Musical Theater Workshops provide fun, yet professional training based on the range of talents exhibited by students. The session will focus on musical and vocal instruction and stage movement, as well as song and dance routines. The class will draw from classic and current musical theater repertoire, and pieces assigned to the students for the spring musical, Hairspray! The Acting Workshops include individual and group activities, and aim to empower participants with acting methods they will be able to apply in the spring production, and any other acting ventures. The workshops will progress from introductory activities to monologue practice, improvisation, and collaborative work. Fontbonne is proud to grow their musical theater program and offer this great opportunity to our students.
